WHY: California is recognized as a global leader in fighting greenhouse gas emissions and the effects of climate change. The Buy Clean California Act will advance that effort by requiring state entities to evaluate the greenhouse gas emissions of products purchased with state funds when deciding to which company a state public infrastructure contract will be awarded. This bill will harness the state’s tremendous buying power to promote clean manufacturing.
Assemblymember Rob Bonta represents the 18th Assembly District, which includes Oakland, Alameda, and San Leandro and is the Assistant Majority Leader and Chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus.
